The D.R.E.A.M. Ride - Ride to fight global poverty!

Dear Colby's Cycling Club,
I am sure that most of you are in the midst of exams and other
school obligations but I only ask a few minutes of your time. If any
of you are looking for a damm cool way to end your summer, consider an incredible non-profit, charity bike ride to help end world poverty.
It is called the D.R.E.A.M. Ride (Development, Relief, Education, Aid
& Mobilization) (www.dream-ride.org) and was created to raise funds
and awareness for six international humanitarian organizations
fighting to combat the many aspects of global poverty, namely health
care, education, women's empowerment and disaster relief.
The ride this August:

Boston to Montreal Canada to New York City
(August 3rd to August 17th, 2007)
A 2-week journey through the Green Mountains and the Adirondacks.

We are certain that this will be an incredible journey – both
physically challenging and full of memorable scenery. Not only do we
hope it will spur much personal exploration but also greater awareness
for the situation abroad as we will give many public presentations
along the route. We would love to have your help in setting up a talk
near or at the school. And it would certainly give your club some
good PR press.

All the funds raised will be appropriately divided among the
following six beneficiaries (and the specific area of their work):

CARE (www.care.org) -
Women's Empowerment and Education in Tanzania
Partners In Health (www.pih.org) -
HIV/AIDS work in Rwanda
Doctors without Borders (MSF) (www.doctorswithoutborders.org) -
Purchasing Emergency Disaster Relief Kits
Emory Vaccine Center, Atlanta (www.vaccines.emory.edu) -
Vaccine Research for HIV/AIDS & Malaria
International Peace Initiatives (www.ipeacei.org) –
Secondary School Education in Kenya
The Canaan Foundation (www.thecanaanfoundation.org) –
Secondary School Scholarships in Kenya

I myself graduated 3 years ago and was also an avid college
cyclist, competing in many races of the ECCC for Lehigh University.
After graduating and volunteering in Mozambique for 16 months, I
returned and decided to continue my involvement with the developing
world but now using my love for cycling as a tool to raise awareness
of and financial support for the fight against global poverty. Last
year I participated in a similar humanitarian ride which was
unfortunately a one time event. But after seeing the incredible
experience of all of past year's participants, we knew this type of
ride had to continue. And so I and a few other students and
recent-graduates decided to create the D.R.E.A.M. Ride. So this is a
ride that is mobilized by students, greatly to give other students the
opportunity to do something incredible while simultaneously raising
money for a well-deserved cause.
This is a true grass-roots effort. It is an opportunity for each
of us to take a stance against the situation in the developing world
today. We hope you are excited as we are about participating in this
D.R.E.A.M. From the experiences of last year's riders, we can
guarantee an incredible, life-changing experience. It will certainly
change the way you see riding your bike and give you a newfound
purpose to ride and train.

Sincerely,
